Who we are:
Magic Minders: who we are and what we do
Magic Minders (Worthing Childminding Association), founded in 2002, is a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation, providing support and services for home-based registered childcare settings, in particular Ofsted registered childminders and nannies, but also for agency childminders, prospective childminders and nannies. Magic Minders primary aim is to support local registered and prospective home-based childcarers in their work by promoting their services, providing training, negotiating discounts and raising the profile of registered childminding and home-based childcare in general. Magic Minders runs its own dedicated drop-in; offers subsidised First Aid and other training for members; negotiates discounts with local businesses; offers support and advice to members; and funds access to a speech and language therapist at drop-ins each term. Magic Minders organises regular group events and outings for members such as to Highdown Windmill, Broadwater Fire Station and Field Place mini railway, as well as taking part in many local community events over the years, including the Durrington and Broadwater Carnivals, Worthing Play Day and the Seafront Planting scheme. In addition to its term-time drop-in Magic Minders also arranges school holiday meet-ups further afield such as play parks, the beach, woodlands etc. Magic Minders members offer mutual help and support to those who need it, especially to childminders/nannies who are new to the profession, because being a home-based childcarer can be a challenging and lonely job, and particularly daunting for those new to the role. Support might include emotional support, friendship, advice on writing policies; setting fees; organising the environment; children’s behaviour; tracking children’s development; advertising vacancies; completing Local Authority paperwork, and other administrative tasks. |

One of the most popular services Magic Minders provides is the Vacancy Coordination Scheme.
This is a free service for members and parents that helps members fill their spaces and parents find childcare that meets their needs.
